(2) Wiggle Eyes

Paint the child's palm and four fingers with black paint.

Press the hand on the sheet of constuction paper so the palms overlap, extending the fingers in opposite directions.

The palm print in the middle is the spiders body and the fingers are the legs.

Glue on wiggle eyes and you're done!

Thin card and paper in assorted colours

Assorted foam or paper shapes or pictures cut from an old magazine

Coloured paper modelling straws

PVA glue

Pencil, ruler, scissors and felt-tip pens or coloured pencils.

Fold an A4 sheet of coloured card in half to form a basic A5 greetings card.

Cut some paper modelling straws into 4.5cm lengths to form the fence posts and cut one end of each length into a point for the top of the post.

Space out and glue the posts onto the card so that the overall length of the fence is slightly shorter than a full length straw.

Next take 2 full length straws and flatten them. Then glue them on top of the posts at right angles to form the rails as seen in the photograph.

Glue on foam or paper shapes to decorate or add other details with felt-tip pens or coloured pencils.

To finish, simply add your own special message.

Run Relay Game Idea

You'll need four to six players, so you may want to invite the neighbors over. Split the group into two teams for a tag relay, says Harden.

But instead of just running back and forth, make the challenges a little more interesting with multiple steps.

For example, each person could start with step one: build a model rocket. Then they run to the designated spot to do step two: sing the family's favorite song.

Next they run to a table for step three: eat a cookie.

Once the player completes all his tasks, he passes the baton to the next person who then follows the same steps.

The first team to have all their players complete the challenge wins.

Silly Jumps Game Idea

Instructions

Mark a starting point on the lawn and then take turns jumping in funny poses to see who can get the farthest.

Try jumping doing the splits mid-air, spinning around on lift-off or flapping your arms to stay airborne.
