Ghost Necklace

What You Need

Elmer's glue

A small paper clip

Googly eyes

Wax paper

String.

Instructions

On wax paper, make a ghost shape out of your glue.

Unbend the paper clip and reform it into a V.

Stick the ends of the V into the glue at top of the ghost's head.

Put googly eyes on the ghost's head.

After a few days, the glue will turn completely clear.

Peel it off the wax paper and thread your string through the paper clip to turn it into a necklace.

Paper Plate Jack- O'- Lantern

What You Need

Mini paper plate

Orange acrylic craft paint

Yellow craft foam

Green craft foam

Brown craft foam

Scissors

Glue

Instructions

Place the paper plate upside down on your work surface and paint it orange. Set aside to dry and repeat with a second coat if needed.

Cut out facial shapes (triangles for eyes and a mouth with a few missing teeth) and glue to the plate.

Use scissors to trim the plate into a pumpkin-like shape. Do this by cutting a dip in the top where the stem would be and trim the bottom to flatten it a bit.

Cut two simple oval-shaped leaves from green craft foam and glue to back of the plate at the top of the pumpkin.

Cut a simple rectangular stem from brown craft foam and glue to the back of the plate, between the leaves.

Milk Container Lantern

What You Need

Plastic gallon milk container with lid

Pen or pencil

Craft knife or scissors

1 bottle orange acrylic enamel or gloss paint

Sponge brush applicator

Hot glue gun

Flickering tea light (battery operated)

Brown felt

Instructions

Lightly draw a jack-o'-lantern face on the front of the milk container.

Cut out features with scissors or a craft knife. Cut a flap in the back of the pumpkin, big enough that you can fit a sandwich bag full of sand or a handful of rocks in to weigh it down.

Paint the container with three coats of orange paint. Allow it to dry between coats.

Holding the flickering tea light upside down, place it inside the mouth of the milk container. (You may need to trim down the opening until the tea light is able to fit inside.)

Once you’ve sized the mouth, remove the tea light and set it aside.

Cut out a rectangle from the brown felt big enough to fit around the mouth of the milk container. Use hot glue to line the inside of the area, then fold the excess down felt around the outside of the mouth and glue in place.

The tea light should fit snuggly inside and be pointing downward. (Do not glue down the tea light you should be able to remove and replace it when the battery dies.)

Insert rocks or a small bag of sand into the back flap of the pumpkin for weight. Place pumpkin on the porch and when night falls, turn on the flickering tea light!

Halloween Tips

While sharing their trick or treating booty with their best furry pal may seem like a natural conclusion to a night of revelry to children, I do advise that parents step in and curtail this part of the process.

Both chocolate and raisins have serious effects on dogs, from mild to severe, and potentially fatal.
