Halloween Kids Crafts

Spooky Halloween People

Instructions

Have a parent peel some apples but don't core them.

Then have the adult carve out the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears using a sharp paring knife.

Let the apples dry in a warm, dry place until they become shriveled and dried.

Paste on buttons for the eyes (or use googly eyes). Use different colors of wool for the hair and eyebrows, glue on short stands of wool for a mustache or beard, etc.

Use your imagination to create some spooky halloween heads.

Spooky Halloween Spider

Instructions

Wind black yarn around a small square piece of cardboard until it's really heavily covered; tie it off and remove the cardboard.

Insert four pipe cleaners having the legs come out on either side of the body; bend the pipe cleaners to form the legs.

Glue on a pair of red button eyes.

Suspend the spider in an area where people are sure to walk into it.

Hang it with a color of thread that is not easily noticed.

Halloween Pins

What You Need

Black and orange ribbon

Hot glue gun and glue stick

Black and orange markers

Candy corn (plastic or real)

1 miniature broom

Brooch pin

Instructions

Paint black and orange stripes on broom handle with markers. Allow to dry.

Use strands of orange and black alternately to make bow at base of stick just above straw area of broom.

Apply a bit of glue on the back of the bow to keep in place.

Glue candy corn or other miniature at the base.

Glue brooch pin to the back of the broom in the area behind straw section so that it will not show.

Fun Halloween Game

Halloween Candy Darts

Take a piece of black construction paper and, using an orange marker, draw a large circle, then a smaller one inside the first one, then another circle within that one, then one more.

Color in the very center circle, that will be the bull's eye.

Designate a different type of halloween candy to each child, then have them each throw their candy.

Prizes are awarded depending on how close the child comes to the bull's eye. The one who actually hits the bull's eye would win the grand prize.

Halloween Tips

Pumpkins are great for decorating inside and out, whether you carve them or not.

Or, instead of carving this year, why not paint the scary or funny face on your pumpkin this year?

Or consider buying small gourds in addition to the big carving pumpkins.

Bring in some fall leaves and acorns and you’ll have a beautiful harvest centerpiece that will serve you through Halloween and beyond.

Halloween Poem

What Witches Do

The witches don their pointed hats,

The witches croak and croon,

The witches ride their broomsticks,

Away beyond the moon.

The witches don their flowing cloaks,

The witches stir their brew.

The witches chant their magic spells,

All the dark hours through.

The witches stroke their big black cats,

They comb their locks of gray,

Yet when the first faint daylight comes.

The witches hide away.
