Flavored Ice

How To Make It

One way to make a splash this Fourth of July is by treating your kids to tall glasses of Patriot's Punch.

Simply fill an ice cube tray with a red or blue fruit-flavored beverage (such as Powerade, Gatorade, or Kool-Aid) and let the cubes freeze solid.

Then drop three or four colored cubes into each glass, pour in flavored seltzer water or clear soda, and watch the special effects.

As the cubes melt, colored bubbles will swirl through the seltzer.

4th July Poems

4TH OF JULY

Author: Nicholas Gordon

July 4th is a day for barbeques

Underneath an unforgiving sun;

Later, fireworks, perhaps the news,

Yawns, some love, and then the day is done.

For most it is a day for celebration

Of something so familiar that its grace,

Unnoticed as a routine revelation,

Remains interred in its accustomed place.

This sweet neglect of what sustains a life

Has all the confidence of man and wife.

Fourth of July

Author: Heather Law Howe

What a fun day!

we all have to say.

The best July 4th ever.

From fireworks to picnic lunch,

we sure did do a bunch.

The memories we'll have forever.

Spending time with family and friends,

with whom the fun never ends.

We celebrated the U.S.A today.
