Chicks In A Basket

You can make several of these to use as a centerpiece for your Easter table, or write names on them and use them as placeholders!

Materials

Egg carton

Cotton balls

Yellow food dye

Q-Tips

Shredded paper (optional)

Bits of orange paper

Marker

Instructions

Dip a Q-tip in yellow dye diluted with water, and use it to "paint" your cotton ball yellow. Let it dry.

Cut out one egg "section" from the egg carton.

Place a bit of shredded paper or Easter grass in bottom of the section.

When the yellow cotton ball is dry, draw eyes on the top with a marker.

Cut out very small triangle of orange paper and glue on the cotton ball to make your chick's beak.

Sit your chick in the carton section and you now have a "chick in a basket!"

Easter Recipe

Bunny Patch Cake

  •   Pound cake
  •   Whipped topping
  •   Shredded coconut
  •   Marshmallow bunnies

Slice pound cake. Cover with whipped topping. Sprinkle coconut that has been tinted with green food coloring onto the cake. Top with 3 marshmallow bunnies.

Cake Nest

For this recipe you can use the spongecakes that you buy at the grocery store (that you fill with strawberries) or you may cut rounds out of a sheet cake.

All you do is to coat the cake rounds or spongecakes with white icing (prepared or make-or-own), sprinkle with green coconut, and fill with tiny jelly beans. These are so easy for the children to do at school or at home. And they are so cute!

Fun Easter Game

Easter Egg Roll Game

Depending on the age of the children, mark off different distances to race and the steepness of the hill. Using a decorated easter egg have the kids roll the eggs either across the floor or down a hill.

They can use a stock or get down on their hands and knees and roll the eggs using their noses. The first one to cross the finish line is the winner.

Nosey Egg Roll

The kids roll the eggs using only their noses. The first one over the finish line wins a prize.

Easter Poem

I Had An Easter Bunny

I had an Easter bunny,

One day she ran away.

I looked for her by moonlight,

I looked for her by day.

I found her in the meadow

With her babies 1, 2, 3.

So now I have four rabbit pets

To run and jump with me.

Hop and Stop

The first little rabbit went hop, hop, hop.

I said to the first rabbit, "Stop, stop, stop!"

The second little rabbit went run, run, run.

I said to the second rabbit, "Fun, fun, fun!"

The third little rabbit went thump, thump, thump.

I said to the third rabbit, "Jump, jump, jump!"

The fourth little rabbit went sniff, sniff, snuff.

I said to the fourth rabbit, "That is enough!"

The fifth little rabbit went creep, creep, creep.

I said to the fifth rabbit, "It's time to sleep!"
